So, It's been a busy few months here at Artists headquarters!
Our first Tax year among other things! As you will know if you read the "meet the team" page, I am currently studying at university, being my 2nd year the work has been a lot harder than the previous year and sadly left less time to devote to this site and also the company. This summers drama school was also canceled, but this is where the negativity ends! I decided that in order to teach children how to perform on stage I needed as much experience as I could find on a stage, I have been involved with many amateur and professional productions up and down the country but i have never performed as myself. so when the opportunity arose to work at a holiday park on the Scottish border, with my own weekly cabaret spot, how could I refuse. I spent 5 weeks of the summer holidays in Wooler, Nothumberland, entertaining the guests and having a blast! It had skyrocketed my confidence and my confidence in my singing, after singing on stage for 5 weeks you have to get over your nerves and just get on with it. Performing has always given me such a thrill but performing as myself not a character has given me a whole new level of freedom on stage and I can't wait to sing more around Merseyside. So what's new with artists? This academic year we are continuing our Freedom in motion dance class but we are also aiming to start an over 18's drama class. There are hundreds of over 18's drama classes up and down the country but many people are afraid to go because of the level of professional talent that are at these classes. Here at Artists our opinion has always been that ANYONE can perform if they have the desire to do so, our class will be open to anyone over the age of 18 regardless of ability, there will be no entrance audition and no judgment on prior experience! We take people how we find them and help improve there confidence and ability and put on a production for family and friends at the end of the year. Hope to make these a more regular thing again, Kez Artists in Motion Productions

so It's the end of week 2 in A.I.M headquarters and it's time to tell you guys some about what we're doing!
So we are now working in one of Southport's local school, Presfield high school, putting on a piece written by me called Cassy. Cassy is a piece written to help people understand what it is like to live with Autism. As a child who has autism I felt it was always very difficult for me to explain how things affected me to people who didn't. As an adult I have used my love of drama and performance to enable me to write this play that explains some of what I felt as an autistic child growing up in a neurotypical world. Neurotypical is basicly a word to describe people who do not present signs of being autistic, so basicly someone who is not Autistic. For more information on autism you can check out http://wrongplanet.net/ where there are many different people talking about their experience with autism. We work with this group of children and young adults within Presfield school once a week working on both the play and their confidence, if a child is confident playing a role within a play then they can apply that to outside life, they are not themselves who struggles in social situations they are "the patient" "the customer" "the member of staff" which can, given time, help them to integrate into mainstream society without too much distress. I know this because this is one of my strategies within each social situation I take on a different role, this role enables me to act how I should, and want to, act but as myself I cannot do because of anxiety. For more info check out the "Presfield in motion page" I also run a dance troupe. This last week we got together, as it was our first meeting there was a total of 3 people and me but we did a 45 minute warm up to get us all fully ready to dance and we then started work on a trio . The trio is a lyrical piece and is based on the story of the little mermaid. The 3 people in the trio represent Ariel, the human world and the sea, it is the externalisation of Ariel's inner struggle between love and family. We have 45 seconds of this learnt and can't wait to add on to it in the future! For more info check out the "Freedom in motion page" As always Keep happy, Keep smiling, Keep dancing. Kez So here is where I'm going to write about all the exciting things going on at 'Artists in motion productions'!
But first let me introduce myself! My name is Keziah, I am 19 and I split my time between Southport and Ormskirk. I am currently a first year at Edge Hill University, university of the year 2015, studying Music Theatre. Dance My performance career began at two and a half when I was sent to baby ballet, I trained under Maureen Jeffrey for 8 years and studied 6 techniques of dance including Tap, National, Modern, Classical Greek, Character and two different syllabus of Ballet. I have won many competitions over the years but the two that stand out most for me are: Overall winner of Ruby Ginner national Greek awards 2003 3rd in Pontin's national Freestyle Dance finals 2014 Acting I first acted at the age of 4 and took my first lead role of Twinkle the Fairy in Twinkle the Fairy. I have since gone on within Merseyside to play many roles my favorites being Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, The Queen of hearts in Alice in wonderland, Sigeron in Lorenzo's Quest, Starkey in Peter Pan Hippolyta in Dream on. Singing I started singing at around 10 and have since gone on to sing in many local and national talent competitions. The latest competition being held at Pontins, in which I came 2nd in Pontin's over 18 national Talent Finals 2014 I started this group in 2012 with the aims of creating a dance troop to enter all the local competitions, this sadly did not happen however because of that I am even more determined to get these projects up and running and to keep them running for a long time. More details to come following my first week of actively running Artists in Motion Productions! Until then! Keep happy, keep smiling and keep dancing! Kez |
